Township Assistance
In addition to other duties, the Wayne Township Trustee is responsible for the administration of emergency relief to eligible Wayne Township residents whose personal efforts have not enabled them to meet their basic needs on their own. The Wayne Township Trustee's office accepts applications for assistance at the following times: All applications for assistance: Monday - Wednesday 8:00 AM -11:00 AM Thursday - By appointment only Friday - 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM Emergency applications: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Individuals desiring to make an application for assistance should come to the office between 8:00 am and 11:00 am. It is recommended applicants arrive as early as possible, since the applications are processed as received. If the number of applicants received on a given day exceeds the amount of time to process all applications, and the assistance is not an emergency, late arriving applicants will be asked to return the following morning. Q: How do I apply Township assistance? A: The office is located at 401 East Main Street. It is on the lower level of the Wayne County Administration building. Applications are taken from 8:00 Am to 11:00 AM . An individual will be given an application and list of other documents or information needed to complete application. Applicant will then see the Trustee and or an Investigator for an interview to compile all information. An application is not considered complete until all adult members of household have signed application an Disclosure and Release of Information form. 2. Other self help requirements Applicants are required to apply for other forms of aid if it might help household meet basic needs. Examples are, TANF, Food Stamps, Social Security, etc. 3. Cooperation Applicants must cooperate with Trustee's office in providing necessary information,documents and signatures. Failure to cooperate will result in denial of assistance.
