The center celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 29, 2016. It was named after Martha Dwyer, a long-serving member of the Wayne Township trustee board.
The Dwyer Community Center is a place where the citizens of Richmond and Wayne Township can find safety and positivity. It hosts the Women's Resource Network and organizes various events throughout the year for the public to enjoy.
Some of the events are:
- Lunch and Learn Thursdays - Cooking Classes - Guest Speakers - Victim Advocacy Training - Workshops
The center also offers its space for rent for different occasions, such as baby and bridal showers, wedding receptions, company functions, trainings and special events.
The center has two rooms: Hutton Hall, named after former mayor Sally Hutton, which can fit 50 people comfortably, and the Mary Jo Clark Gathering Room, which can fit 24.
